Museum OS unifies commerce, membership, ticketing, donations, and customer identity on Shopify. It runs as a custom app in your own Shopify organization, and your CRM and ticketing platforms remain the systems of record — Museum OS keeps Shopify in step with them, so your members get one login and one account across every property.
And it's modular: start with a single module — automatic member discounts, say, or a POS member scanner — or deploy the full member portal, and add more as your programs grow.
When a member signs in, Museum OS looks them up in your ticketing platform for live membership status, composes household and entitlement data from your CRM, pulls orders from your Shopify stores, and writes a snapshot to the member's Shopify customer record before the page loads. Pages load from the snapshot, so the member experience stays up even when a source system is slow — and the member's card, benefits, household, and history are simply there.
Status, level, and expiration read live at sign-in, with a scannable code and wallet passes.
Every cardholder sees the membership, and secondary cardholders can book on the primary's membership.
Member pricing applies itself at checkout and POS — no codes to find, share, or expire.
Signed-in renewal and upgrade handoffs into your ticketing checkout, and auto-renew managed from the portal.
Renewals, tickets, donations, and store purchases in one list, filterable by type and year.
Scan the member card at the register to attach the customer and apply their discount in one step.
Newsletter choices and content interests write through to your CRM and email platform.
Member benefits are Shopify metaobjects your team edits directly — no engineering release required.
Name, address, and household changes file routed cases for your membership team — the record stays theirs.

Most ticketing platforms have no concept of a secondary cardholder. Museum OS composes the household from your CRM, so a spouse or caregiver signs in with their own login, sees the family membership, and books free member admission and guest tickets on the primary's membership — a members-only booking completes with no checkout step at all.
Membership renewals, ticket orders, donations, and store purchases used to be four lists in four systems. Museum OS federates them into one order history inside the member's Shopify account, with detail pages suited to each kind of order.
Museum OS is in production at The Huntington (MyHuntington), the Museum of the American Revolution, and the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, with individual modules at SFMOMA and additional institutions in build. Each deployment is its own app in the institution's Shopify organization, running only the modules it needs. It works with the systems museums already run: Ticketure, Tessitura, Evey, Salesforce, Raiser's Edge NXT, Auth0, Bookkeep, and more.
